We offer here an original, pristine example of a hand coloured antique engraved map of "ROUYAUME DE SUEDE TROISIEME CARTE SUEDE MODERNE" Kingdom of Sweden, Third Map, Modern Sweden. By Mapmaker, Pierre Francois Tardieu. Printed by André in 1797 from the "Atlas Nouveau". Featuring beautiful outline colour of Sweden and Finland, this map also shows Norway. Features rhumb and loxodrome lines, as is traditional in old maps.
The map is in French and it is folded in its mid-section, and is on hand laid paper and is greatly enhanced with hand coloring. It is not matted or framed.
The map is in PRISTINE condition. It is very rare to find this map in such good condition. This is a GREAT MAP and these antique maps are a fabulous piece of history - perfect for any collector, and most impressive when framed!
Pierre Francois Tardieu (1711-1771) was a French engraver and cartographer, nephew of the noted engraver Nicolas-Henri Tardieu. His uncle taught him the art of engraving and he produced many historical and genre works.
