We are pleased to offer a print from the extremely rare first edition of "Onze Vogels in Huis en Tuin beschreven en afgebeeld ", published in Leiden between 1869-1876 by John Gerrard Keulemans.
This work can be characterized of an extraordinary degree on the rendering of fine detail. The prints are beautifully executed traditional lithography in very fine detail, all with original handcolouring, showing the subjects in association with indigenous flowering plants in their natural state and habitat. They depicts a vivid, life-like figure through depth, tone and colours that are bright and very intense and heightened with gum arabic to provide them a more glossed and vivid appearance. The prints were coloured by hand by skilled artisans who applied aniline dyes.

These prints were engraved by some of the most important engravers of their time: P.W.M. Trap.
The condition of these prints is very good. There is very light foxing, on creamy white medium weight paper.
These prints are generally accompanied by the original descriptive text in Dutch .
