We are pleased to offer an entomologist’s gift package delight in his very rare, exquisitely hand-coloured print of a variation of beetle insects in very fine detail. We are offering five different prints from the series on our site here, plates no. 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6, each sold separately. These prints are in EXCELLENT condition – a rarity, in that other prints on the market offered from this book are usually in very poor condition.

Mit instruktiven Abbildungen der Fanginstrumente und sonstiger Geräthschaften.”(Book for beetle and butterfly collecting, or practical instruction to collect, educate, prepare and keep beetles and butterflies. In addition to a list of the European genera in a systematic order. With instructive illustrations of the catches and other equipment.) Published in Stuttgart, Hoffmann in 1844.

These five prints are professionally framed, in an acid-free matting colored “Library Green”, with a golden frame. This recalls the great libraries of wonder of explorers and entomologists of the 1800s.

Carl Friedrich Wilhelm Berge (11 December 1811, Stuttgart–19 September 1883) was a German naturalist, ornithologist and entomologist. He was the author of Kaferbuch (on beetles) Conchylienbuch (on shells) and Schmetterlingsbuch (on butterflies and moths) and Die Fortpflanzung europäischer und aussereuropäischer Vögel. Ein Beitrag zur Naturgeschichte derselben (Stuttgart, L.F. Rieger, 1840-1841). This work on European and non-European birds gives brief descriptions of range and nesting habits.
